The Corner Brook Royals showed up in Deer Lake Friday with just 12 skaters, but skated away with their first win over the Red Wings knocking off the home team 8-6. Missing several forwards and defencemen, the team turned in a relentless, never-give-up performance.

Defenceman Alex Hillier paced the winners offensively with 2 goals and 2 assists. Matt Colbourne added 2 goals and had a helper. Will Keating, Jody Kelly, Ryan Roche, and Lucas Fabijancic had the other Corner Brook markers. Josh Smith and Daniel Noseworthy each had 3 assists.
